Model and Strategy
Access to education for girls is a prerequisite for ending poverty, which is why RESULTS supports the only global fund dedicated wholly to education in developing countries, the Global Partnership for Education (GPE). GPE is a critical leverage point for its ability to reach millions of girls and drive systemic change by shaping national education plans. Gender equality is one of GPE’s top focus areas with funding prerequisites demanding that national education plans focus on gender-responsive education, fostering national policy dialogue on girls’ education, and tackling gender-based violence in schools. GPE is funded by donor governments, complemented by resources of developing countries that receive funding. RESULTS was instrumental in securing the first-ever U.S. contribution to GPE in 2010, and has been a critical driver in increasing U.S. funding to GPE to $70 million annually. This year RESULTS will push the U.S. government to again make an ambitious financial pledge to GPE.
Impact
RESULTS has built a model for deep advocacy over its 37-year history that has proven to be a powerful way to build healthy and constructive relationships between constituents and their government. By changing political priorities and the way our government spends its money, RESULTS volunteers and staff multiply their impact through the enormous power of advocacy. Our advocacy leverages the power, reach, and resources of the U.S. government, whether helping change policy to support families putting food on the table or helping raise billions of dollars for the fight against diseases of poverty.
