Sean White

Dr. Sean White is the CEO of Inflection AI, where he leads the development of world-class AI models with groundbreaking emotional intelligence. He co-founded Braingels, a community advancing neurotech innovation, and serves as a board member, advisor, and investor for organizations spanning technology, healthcare, and social impact, including Sanmai Technologies, OpenMind AI, Earth Species Project, and The Tech Interactive.

Previously, Sean was Mozilla’s Chief R&D Officer, where he built the global Emerging Technologies organization and drove advances that shaped the future of the open web. His teams delivered programming languages (Rust), codecs (AV1), architectures (Servo), machine learning systems (DeepSpeech), IoT platforms (WebThings), and pioneering XR products (Firefox Reality, Hubs). Earlier in his career, he founded BrightSky Labs and RecNet, led Nokia’s Interaction Ecologies Group, and held leadership roles at Lycos, WhoWhere, NeoCarta Ventures, and Paul Allen’s Interval Research Corporation.

Sean has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications and holds 20+ patents. He is a Tech for Global Good Laureate (2009) and an inductee to the Augmented World Expo XR Hall of Fame (2024) for his pioneering work. He has taught at Stanford University and Columbia University, served as a Visiting Scientist at the Smithsonian Institution, and contributed to global research leadership through IEEE’s ISMAR steering committee. He holds degrees from Stanford (B.S., M.S.) and Columbia (M.S., Ph.D.).
