Model and Strategy

Via solar training, Young Community Developers, Inc. (YCD) aims to enhance the portfolios of transitional aged youth, ages 18-24, to become prime candidates in the workforce. The 11-week solar training program will provide participants with the foundation of skills for entry-level photovoltaics (PV) installation. The program will also provide the practical skills and support needed to jumpstart green jobs and careers in the solar industry.

YCD offers hands-on installation experience provided by existing partnerships with several solar installation companies and will also include Job Readiness Training, utilizing YCD's Work Readiness Curriculum, Roots of Success Curriculum and OSHA 10 certification. Through such training, individuals from disenfranchised neighborhoods will be able to gain the necessary job readiness and solar training to enter various trades.
