Model and Strategy
The purpose of the project is to ignite children and youth to adopt and disseminate new mindsets and practices
about energy resources, consumption and their impacts. This project will accelerate a Resource Revolution by
activating education, both experiential through immersive visits to Slide Ranch and/or intensive engagement with
our online learning tool. Slide Ranch will also incorporate nature-powered, renewable energy technologies into its
facilities and programs, starting with an “Energy Garden,” that will make Slide Ranch a working, living example of
how to harness the power of nature without destroying it.
While the world needs R&D and infrastructure improvements, it is imperative that education is not omitted.
Education creates future innovators and thought leaders. Slide Ranch is committed to reinventing energy
education, tracking, innovating, and optimizing its engagement of K12 students at its physical site and through its
online learning tool.
Impact
In 3 years, this project will:
* Reach at least 250,000 school children nationwide via online learning tool
* Augment onsite renewable energy programs for 30,000 K12 students visiting Slide Ranch
* Utilizing onsite evaluation and online platform analytics, track reach and pre and post engagement knowledge, mindsets and practices to measure program effectiveness and inform revisions to online and onsite curriculum as needed
* Install an Energy Garden of interactive solar, wind, wave and waste energy systems plus a solar power array, with realtime monitoring, to engage and educate all visitors
