Mental health is about safe relationships. The foundations of mental health are set in the first five years through biomarkers and early expectations of safe or dangerous relationships. We need to transform mental health systems to make relationships the core of clinical attention. Our focus on family and community partnerships helps create that transformation. Our project can propel it forward.

The Ma'at Program provides mental health and wellness support for Black/African American children, youth, and families in every neighborhood in San Francisco. Ma’at uses a whole-person approach to deliver Afri-centric, culturally responsive, heartfelt, behavioral health wellness care that addresses head-on the historical legacy of intergenerational racism, inequity, and trauma.
