Model and Strategy
DoSomething’s voter engagement work is designed to get 4.5 million of America’s most socially engaged young people (and their friends!) to the polls for the 2020 Election and beyond. We have direct and constant communication with DoSomething members across the country and know how to activate them around every cause, including voting, because we’ve done it before.
Our membership is made up of populations often ignored by civic participation efforts, including Communities of Color and first-time voters. Our members have the power to influence their peers, families, and elected officials to make tangible impact. They can literally change election outcomes. We help them get it done.
We are centering our geographic efforts on states and counties where youth enthusiasm is highest. These tend to line up with “swing states” or places where there will be competitive 2020 races.
We are providing our members with the voter participation tools that help them get to the polls and adopt impactful habits now so they will be active participants in a healthier democracy for the rest of their lives.
Impact
Optimizing user experience to increase sustained volunteerism and create more pathways to civic participation and voter engagement long-term
Using online tools and offline communities to create segmented member journeys that set our members on a pathway to immediate action and habitual participation
Moving members from taking broadly accessible actions (e.g. sharing facts on social media) to level up to more involved actions (e.g., registering people to vote, going to the polls)
