Model and Strategy
Nuru Ethiopia is essential to the development of Nuru International's global model. It allows a comparison point to successes in Kenya and an opportunity to adapt to the special circumstances of Ethiopian culture, society and government. The NI model will be able to save lives in the short term but also restore agency of people through community operated and led programs. Longer term, NI will introduce the model to fragile states with a low human development spectrum rating; places like Niger, Burkina Faso, and DRC. Numbers impacted will begin small in each country during startup, and then will grow quickly after seven years when local leaders begin expansion to other regions of their country. NI also plans to make the model available to other governments and NGOs to scale more aggressively after the model is proven.
Impact
Pilot an innovative development model that is integrated, self-sustaining, and self-scaling, addressing four areas of need: 1) hunger, 2) inability to cope with economic shocks, 3) unnecessary disease and death, and 4) lack of quality education for children.
Create positive impact in the remote, rural, agrarian communities of entire countries, beginning with Kenya and Ethiopia.
