Model and Strategy
The Inspire Tour will help the thousands of young military service members who will transition off of active duty in the coming years to more fully realize their potential and pursue meaningful post-service careers by helping those service members understand and be inspired by the possibilities of entrepreneurship. Through a series of on-base events including pitch competitions and innovation workshops, as well as speakers and networking opportunities featuring entrepreneurs and business leaders, the Inspire Tour will introduce young service members to career paths that will allow them to lead the creation of innovative new technologies, products, and services and better determine their own future in the rapidly-evolving workplaces of the 21st century. Furthermore, these events will help transitioning service members navigate the Bunker Labs virtual and in-person resources that can help them pursue entrepreneurship both during and after their active military service.
Impact
We believe that inspiring, educating and connecting aspiring military veteran entrepreneurs provides an invaluable opportunity for military service members and veterans to leverage the skills and aptitudes that they have developed during military service to pursue meaningful careers and economic independence for themselves and their families. Furthermore, through empowering veteran entrepreneurs, we can positively impact the broader veteran community and economy. Unlike traditional jobs programs for veterans, entrepreneurship programs are a "force multiplier" with the potential to create jobs and economic opportunities for other military veterans as well as the entrepreneurs. Studies from the Franchise Business Review show that veterans are at least 30% more likely than their civilian counterparts to hire other veterans, and of course many non-veterans will also benefit from the job creation and economic growth fostered by successful veteran-led businesses. Currently veterans are underrepresented in business and government leadership across the U.S., but by empowering veterans to become leaders in entrepreneurship and innovation, Bunker Labs will have an outsized impact by not only support the small business owners that we work with but also by helping to catalyze the economic wellbeing and opportunities for advancement for the broader military veteran community.
