Model and Strategy
Early childhood learning drives education, career and life success – with character development being the most important factor. These resources need to be made available to families (J. Heckman). Yet character curriculum has never been scaled, current options are costly or outdated, and solutions to engage parents are scarce. Peekapak is shaping the future of early childhood education by ensuring every child, regardless of resources, has access to quality SEL-focused stories and lessons, both at school and at home, to help them learn valuable life skills that set them on a path to success.
We are leading innovation in content and technology with a research-based curriculum that guides teachers and parents on how to instill SEL in the class and home, housed on an intuitive platform created to place teacher-parent interaction at its core. Peekapak is setting a new standard by bringing SEL into the classroom and the home, laying the foundation for every child’s learning and success.
Impact
Technology plays such an integral role in our distribution and plans to scale and expand our impact that we are building our infrastructure to work seamlessly with our SEL curriculum.
During the two-year award period, we will actively reach 75K classes (15K Title 1), reaching ~2.8MM students, teachers and sets of parents through platform tools that foster sharing and virality, building key partnerships (non- profits and companies like Educents), and organic growth.
Beyond the award period, we will continue to offer our curriculum free of charge. In the US alone, there are ~18.5MM preK to grade 3 students taught by ~1MM teachers. Following a US expansion, we are eager to work with global non-profits and schools. To meet the needs of disadvantaged populations, we will provide enhanced accessibilities through audio/visual support (focusing on children with special needs, reading difficulties, English learners, and kids without optimal parent interaction), and language options via translations.
Our commitment to mobile accessibility helps us reach all parents and students, anywhere, particularly in underserved communities where 13% of lower-income Americans are smartphone-dependent.
