Tracey Patterson

Tracey Patterson is the Director of Legislation for California Food Policy Advocates (CFPA). In that role, she directs CFPA's state legislative efforts to increase low-income Californians’ access to nutritious, affordable food. She is a dedicated and creative advocate and strategist with more than 15 years of experience in public health, policy, research, and education. In 2017, Tracey led the way to enact California’s SB 138, legislation which will ensure that more than 2,000 high-poverty schools are hunger-free through universally free breakfast and lunch. Prior to joining CFPA in 2013, Tracey worked with low-income communities in San Francisco, New Orleans, and New York City to organize youth and adults around health equity and food access, and led nutrition and garden education programs. She is passionate about working with policymakers, community members, coalitions, local organizations, schools, researchers, and others to advocate for policies and programs that bring long-term, sustainable change. She has a Master of Public Health from the City University of New York.
