The Transitional Re-Entry Program allows each young person to use their time productively while incarcerated, and to prepare them to survive and thrive in the community upon release. Participation in programs provides young people with a positive outlet for their frustrations, emotions and fears, thus creating a more positive, hopeful and optimistic youth and resulting in a calmer, more productive and effective rehabilitative environment in the prison setting. This program will break the cycle of incarceration by allowing young people to know that: 1) they are equipped through our transitional leadership classes to handle the obstacles placed before them 2) they are trained on how to navigate to handle issues that may come up and 3) they are not alone. The project includes a variety of coursework, group discussions and reflections during which youth can share what they learned and practice moving forward with confidence.
