Model and Strategy
Anti-Recidivism Coalition is seeking to expand its unique support network and policy advocacy to the Bay Area. The Bay Area ARC will provide mentoring, case management, connection to needed services, and overall support to youth and young adults returning home from incarceration.
ARC members go through an initial intake process with an ARC Case Manager to develop a Life Plan that focuses on education, employment, housing, and health. ARC then connects members to needed services, supports, and opportunities, and engages them in the Support Network of social gatherings, peer support, and mentoring. ARC members are also trained in policy advocacy and meet with state and local policy makers to advocate for the reform of the criminal justice system.
Impact
Grow to 700 General members statewide, as well as 200 Leadership Council members; further reduce recidivism rates among General Membership and Leadership Council
Open chapters in Oakland, San Diego, the Southern Valley and Central California (Stockton. Fresno, and/or Salinas)
Successfully advocate for and sponsor legislation and policies in the state and locally that reduce the rate of incarceration and increase the resources available to formerly incarcerated people.
