Battery Powered Awards $1 Million to Women's Health & Wealth

Battery Powered is excited to announce the grants made under its Women's Health & Wealth giving theme. As a community, our giving circle raised and granted $1 million to ten extraordinary organizations, all working to ensure that all women have control and agency over their wellbeing and their future!

This funding culminates four months of learning where we dove into women's economic empowerment as well as sexual and reproductive health and rights.  We learned that at the current rate of progress, it would take nearly 300 years to reach gender equity.  But we also learned about the organizations accelerating the pace and changing the landscape. We are honored to support the vital work of a portfolio of these organizations working toward this transformation. Check out the grantees below.
 

WOMEN'S HEALTH & WEALTH GRANTEES

Callisto - $230,972 for an online, encrypted, sexual assault documentation system that increases justice, agency and power for survivors while detecting repeat offenders. 

Dandelion Africa - $155,820 for a community model providing healthcare, livelihoods, and advocacy programs for rural women, girls, and communities in the Rift Valley of Kenya.

Moms First - $170,171 to advance women's economic freedom by uplifting the vital work of mothers in our society and building power to win public and private investments they need and deserve.

Rise Up - $250,000 to uplift women leaders around the globe and support them to achieve meaningful, lasting change through funding, training and connection to a global network of women leaders. 

RUNWAY - $146,389 to invest in Black entrepreneurship and creativity in the U.S. South through early-stage funding, holistic business support and innovative financial products for Black women entrepreneurs.

In addition, grants of $10,000 each to the following extraordinary organizations: Family Values at Work, Global Fund for Women, Groundswell Action Fund, Mama Glow Foundation, and Prospera International Network of Women's Funds.
