Celebrate Good Times

Organization Night for Youth Uplift was a true celebration of youth programs and their leaders doing the hard work supporting Bay Area and Central Valley youth. Our Director of Grants and Impact, Jill Minkus, kept the night flowing. Together we viewed the “premiere” of each organization’s short video summarizing their work and dedication to supporting young people’s self-expression, leadership, wellness, and healing.

Thinking about how we as a giving community can show up in the most supportive and equitable way possible, we invited members and grantees to ditch the formal public speaking model. Instead, the event had a fair energy. The opportunity to walk around and ask one-on-one questions felt sincere and easy-flowing. The organizations later commented on how welcomed and happy they felt.

Battery Powered is leading the way in new forms of engagement in philanthropy. Our giving circle has a rare opportunity to listen critically to the needs of the diverse communities we serve, moments like this - when an entire room rings with pride, purpose, and joy!
