Battery Powered Awards $825,500 to Public Education
We are pleased to announce that the Battery Powered community awarded $825,500 to organizations supporting California's public school students as they return to the classroom as part of our Public Education giving theme.
The pandemic took an immense toll on students and their families, as well as teachers and school administrators. But many of the challenges our students face long pre date COVID. This is a moment for us to invest in building back better in our public education system. Yes to address the immediate needs of students to ensure their wellbeing and to address learning loss. But also to reimagine systems and bolster support to address long standing inequities. Federal and state funding are critical, but so to is flexible, philanthropic capital - a message we heard at Allocation Night from California State Superintendant Tony Thurmond. Our community came together to invest in organizations that are building back better for California's students and we are honored to announce our grantees.
