Battery Powered Awards $1.09M to Empower Today’s Youth to Excel in the Workforce of the Future
As the final school bell rings and a new round of graduates enters the job search, Battery Powered awarded $1.09 million to support pathways for youth to successfully transition from education to meaningful careers.
From ensuring equitable access to support for at-risk youth to engaging the business community in building the skills needed in their workforce, these organizations are empowering today’s youth to excel in the jobs of the future.
Battery Powered Awardees
Organizations receiving 100% of their funding request
College Track - $250k over 1 year to empower more than 1,300 first generation college students from the Bay Area with the skills, resources, and opportunities to persist on the path through a four-year college degree
Ever Forward – Siempre Adelante – $100k over 2 years to help at-risk young men get to high school graduation and college through expansion of school-based programming into 10 new high schools serving 250 young men
Trellis - $150k over 2 years to capture and track growth in STEM teacher effectiveness, in seven local school districts, so they can continuously improve and replicate the Trellis teacher-scholar model.
Year Up - $250k over 1 year to help Bay Area low income young adults move from poverty to professional career in one year by expanding the East Bay Community College site which will serve 440 students in the coming year.
Organizations receiving partial funding of their request
SPARK* SF Public Schools - $149k to engage the business community in strengthening pathways for youth in the San Francisco Unified School Districts to careers in ways that promote equity and diversity in San Francisco.
Beyond 12 - $198k to close the college completion gap for low-income students through a high-tech, high-touch coaching program, preparing them for success in college and beyond.

About the Award
Battery Powered Awardees receive more than money. In addition to a fully funded project, they get special recognition in The Battery space and will be featured as winners on the Battery Powered online platform. Along with publicity opportunities and the endorsement of the Battery Powered membership, this award signals the beginning of an ongoing relationship with the organizations, who will be invited back to the club to share their progress and meet with members who might want to go further with their support. The membership is taking a “once an awardee, always an awardee” approach. That means the community will be hearing more from these wonderful organizations in the future!
