Battery Powered Awards $1.21 Million to Mental Health
The Battery Powered community awarded $1.21 million to organizations prioritizing mental health in our communities.
Every year, 1 in 5 adults and 1 in 6 youth in the U.S. experience a mental health disorder or illness, but less than half receive the treatment they need. The economic toll is enormous, but the cost in human lives and suffering is unmeasurable and intolerable. At Allocation Night, we watched as nearly the entire room held up their hands to indicate that they loved someone who suffered from a mental health challenge and continued to hold up their hands to indicate that they had lost someone they loved to mental health. This issue is real for our community.
But the solutions are real as well. And Battery Powered offered a slate of 12 extraordinary organizations who are improvin mental health in our communities. We are pleased to introduce the recipients of a Battery Powered award under our Mental Health theme:
Bring Change to Mind $268,400 to expand peer-led mental health awareness clubs that are reducing stigma and improving mental health among teens in high schools across the U.S.
Children's Health Council $207,900 to increase access to culturally relevant mental health and wellness services to youth and families in East Palo Alto and Belle Haven.
