Battery Powered Backs the Future of Mental Health with $1.46M

Battery Powered Backs the Future of Mental Health with $1.46M

This winter at The Battery, we’ve engaged in our most personal season of giving yet. On Thursday, Battery Powered members allocated $1,465,000 to 6 organizations with innovative projects that support the mental health of families and communities everywhere.

With a stellar group of 19 finalist organizations in the running for Battery Powered Awards, the choice wasn’t easy. At Allocation Night, we heard personal stories from fellow members with first-hand experience with mental illness in their family. Neuroscientist Loren Frank reminded us of the wonders of the human brain with some hands-on memory and brain training games. Most of all, we shared our experiences with the projects that moved us, and advocated for those organizations to join the growing family of Battery Powered awardees.

And the winners are...

In true Battery Powered fashion, we gave lots of love to the organizations that really resonated with the membership through testimonials and, for the first time ever, opportunities for additional funding.

With this momentous night, our Battery Powered Mental Health theme comes to a close. Every organization that participated in this theme has incredible projects in action that affect all of us. They are making huge strides to support the mental health challenges we face today and for generations to come, and we are excited to welcome them into the Battery Powered family. About the Award

Battery Powered Awardees receive more than money. In addition to a fully funded project, they get special recognition in The Battery space and will be featured as winners on the Battery Powered online platform. Along with publicity opportunities and the endorsement of the Battery Powered membership, this award signals the beginning of an ongoing relationship with the organizations, who will be invited back to the club to share their progress and meet with members who might want to go further with their support. The membership is taking a “once an awardee, always an awardee” approach. That means the community will be hearing more from these wonderful organizations in the future!
