Battery Powered Views: A Film Series

Michael and Xochi Birch, The Battery's founders, are excited to release their latest film: Exploring San Francisco’s Future. The film is part of a series of mini documentaries called Battery Powered Views. Each mini doc delivers eye opening insights into local and global issues, from the crisis of mass incarceration in America to the international efforts to end extreme poverty in this lifetime. The goals of Battery Powered Views are to raise awareness and inspire greater investment to address and solve urgent challenges.

Exploring San Francisco’s Future was created by the Battery Powered philanthropy team, Amplifier Strategies, for the Winter 2015 Battery Powered theme. Watch the video here:

Exploring San Francisco’s Future debuted at Battery Powered Allocation Night, where members gave over $680,000 to local organizations committed to shaping San Francisco’s future. Read the full press release here.

San Francisco is a city with limitless potential. This film explores San Francisco as it was, as it is, and as it could be. Exploring San Francisco's Future imagines a vibrant and more affordable future for San Francisco’s soon-to-be 1 million residents. It features firsthand interviews with local residents, developers, nonprofit leaders and small business owners. The film not only celebrates the diversity of voices and cultures in San Francisco, but also reveals the places where residents can engage with their communities to make change happen.
