Youth Uplift Allocation Night Raises $1 Million
Since 2014, Battery Powered has granted almost $30 million to over 200 organizations working to end homelessness, improve public education, slow climate change, strengthen our democracy, support pandemic relief, stop gun violence, increase access to mental health and addiction services, and more. Our current Youth Uplift Allocation Night was a success!
As a community, our giving circle raised and granted $1 million to ten extraordinary organizations working to help Bay Area and Central Valley youth find pride, purpose, and joy in their lives.
This funding culminates four months of learning to support young people's healing, social-emotional development, and power through self-expression, organizing and advocacy, and healing communities. With these grants, we are honored to support the vital work of organizations working toward this transformation. Check out the grantees below.
YOUTH UPLIFT GRANTEES (in alphabetical order):
Ever Forward: Siempre Adelante - $250,000
Ever Forward - Siempre Adelante mentors underserved middle and high school youth by providing safe, brave communities that build character and transform lives.
Justice Outside - $184,411
Justice Outside ensures young people have access to meaningful personal experiences in nature to help them become stronger leaders and students, improve their mental and physical health, and become the next generation of environmental stewards.
Mindful Life Project - $250,000
Mindful Life Project supports schools through mindfulness-based social-emotional learning programs. Its comprehensive approach supports the mental and emotional well-being of students, teachers, staff, community leaders, and families.
RYSE - $87,547
RYSE’s integrative program model supports the personal development of young people, stronger peer relationships, and stronger youth-adult relationships. Programming occurs across areas of Health Justice, Education and Economic Justice, Youth Justice, Youth Power Building, and Media Arts and Culture.
Youth Speaks - $181,870
At Youth Speaks, youth develop their unique voices; experience personal, artistic, and professional growth; find inclusion and belonging; and use their voices to influence public discourse, shift cultural narratives, and change public policy around the most urgent issues.
In addition, grants of $10,000 each were made to Hip Hop for Change, LOUD for Tomorrow, PODER + Chinese Progressive Association, Urban Peace Movement + Communities United for Restorative Youth Justice, and Youth Organize! California (YO! Cali).
